What Counts as Yoga?
This week I’d like to ask, what counts as yoga?
Is it when everything is perfect, the groceries are purchased and put away, the laundry is done, the dishes are cleaned up and dinner is in the Crock-Pot? Is it when our mat is laid out, props are at the ready, ambient music is playing, and the light is soft? If all this comes together, what’s your secret? Please share!
Reality is much more challenging, unpredictable and unique. So here is why I’m asking a follow up question: Can yoga be taken off the mat? When we’re driving (especially in traffic), have a difficult conversation (perhaps with customer service) or waiting to hear back from someone…
My question for you then becomes, can we find yoga in those moments? Can we connect identify where we are holding tension in our body? Is it our breath, is it shallow, can we even it out, is it our shoulders, have they crept up by our ears? Can we slide the shoulder blades down our back or roll the shoulders back and down? My moment(s) this week have been dealing with the software that is supposed to make the process of bringing yoga into our homes seamless. It hasn’t been smooth but it has certainly offered plenty of opportunities to practice patience, breathe, and begin again.See if you can find at least one, “off-the-mat” moment this week.
Here’s the best news of the week, Vicki is teaching Thursday’s Restorative and Gentle Class, I know she has missed everyone and will be excited to see you.Once again, thank you for choosing to move your body, breathe deeply, and grow stronger with me. I'm so grateful to be part of your journey and appreciate if you’d share this with anyone interested in joining us!
